Note from the Coordinator
Starting from the realisation that many athletes dedicate their lives to sport – often at the expense of education or career development – and that their careers can be relatively short due to injuries or unforeseen events, the Progress DC project was created to help bridge the gap between athletic excellence and long-term personal development.
Rooted in the principles of the EU Guidelines on Dual Careers of Athletes (2012), Progress DC supports sports professionals through a structured, sustainable approach. At the heart of this initiative is the training and certification of Dual Career (DC) Advisers – the individuals within sports organisations who will serve as the main points of guidance and support for athletes as they navigate their sporting journey as well as their educational path.
In parallel, Progress DC provides flexible learning opportunities in transversal and digital skills, and actively involves key stakeholders and policymakers in raising awareness of dual career needs.
Together with our partners from Cyprus, Greece, Poland and Romania and with a strong commitment to what we do – we are proud to contribute to a future where athletes are empowered to succeed: not only in sports, but also in life beyond it.
